This family-run, 4-star, small luxury lodge in the KwaZulu Natal Drakensberg successfully achieved Fair Trade (RE) Certification this past year. They were the first lodge in KwaZulu Natal to achieve this status in 2011. This demonstrates their ongoing commitment to doing tourism the Fair Trade and responsible way. Their recent site audit was a resounding success and their auditor recommended their certification be renewed without reservation (pun intended) Criteria for successful certification include fair wages and working conditions, local purchasing and operations, equitable distribution of benefits and respect for human rights, culture and the environment.
